When staying at Barossa Grand Retreats, you are just a stone’s throw away from your very own FREE conservation park. Keep an eye out for Western grey kangaroos and native birds such as honeyeaters, treecreepers, rosellas, and lorikeets.
Whether you choose an early morning hike or a leisurely afternoon stroll with a picnic hamper (we can supply that), you can connect with nature.
Take a hike and soak in the beautiful Barossa landscape of creeks, rocky out-crops and low forest scrub to open grassland. Kaiserstuhl Conservation park offers two walking trails with panoramic views across the ranges to the Barossa Valley and the almost guaranteed chance of stumbling across local wildlife.
The Wallowa Hike takes walkers deep into all the park has to offer with stops including a scenic lookout and rock formations, such as Horse Head Rock. The incredible craftmanship of nature has seen weathering and erosion create this rock formation, which as the name suggests, resembles a horse’s head. Capped Rock, a horizontal rock slab perched on a vertical outcrop, is another interesting feature and provides an exciting photographic challenge.
The Stringybark Loop takes a more leisurely walk to showcase the park’s diverse flora and fauna.
